2) Do people use the internet to avoid traditional reading and researching, for faster results?
3) What is Googles mission?
Why do we all loose concentration while trying to read an article online?
Why do we loose concentration
while reading an article online?
I believe this is a relevant
question and is important to the text because the Internet has changed our mind
set on what reading is all about. The Internet now a day is an easy way out to
find information, but most of the time, we loose concentration. Staying focused
on one article is such a common struggle. The author Nicholas Carr even has
trouble. He feels that his thinking is not the same while reading, causing him
to drift after a few pages. I agree with Carr that the Internet has a bad influence
in keeping concentration while reading. Trying to read through an entire
article is hard. We all just want to find what we need and be finished, but that
never happens. There are always so many words in the article, which makes our
mind instantly begin to skim read because we know there are other sites we can
look at. I think majority of people do that when they are trying to search for
information, it comes natural. However, it is a bad habit. Concentration is
lost from scrolling up and down trying to find what you need. Another way
concentration is lost while reading an online article is from all the
advertisements. While surfing the web Google advertises companies or their
products on the sides, which can be very distracting. Even though the
advertisements are annoying, it gets our mind thinking of other things to look
up on Google. Next thing you know there will be 4 tabs up on your computer from
looking up random things. I think the one major way concentration can be lost while
reading on the Internet is from all the social networks. Many people have a
habit going on Facebook, Twitter, or Insagram while trying to focus.
